I wonder about the relevance of these mentions to their individual topics, and wonder if it isn't in fact a form of spam from these petition sites. Often they point to sites such as Petition Online. Recently I've noticed frequent mentions of online petitions in articles regarding entertainment topics, particularly video games and films. Is this sort of example really appropriate? In fact, is any example needed at all? And seeing how space is becoming increasingly important as a domain, it makes a whole lot more sense to create a new branch while it's easy than years down the line when the US is forced to. Over the years, it became increasingly rediculous to keep Space Command under the Air Force as the assets and difficulties of orbital space are vastly different to those dealt with by the Air Force. In any case, orbital space was the only physical domain without its own branch, which really hurts efforts to create an ethos, specialization, and chain of command, considering the vast majority of the Air Force was and is focused on Air Dominance. At most, Trump accelerated the idea of creating creating new branch, but it was hardly an unpopular one by the time he pretended he thought it up. Trump took the idea and ran with it because he likes pretending he's a genius who was the first person to consider the issue, but different lawmakers of both parties have been trying to spin off US Space Command into its own branch for many years.
